Science Mission Statement

At Uplands Manor Primary School, we promote a high-quality Science education, providing the foundations for pupils to understand the wide world around them. Throughout KS1, our Science curriculum encourages exciting opportunities for pupils to experience phenomena, focusing closely on the natural- and humanly-constructed world. Pupils enjoy a range of scientific enquiry, including observing changes over time, noticing patterns, grouping and classifying and carrying out simple comparative tests, to support pupils in extending their skills within posing questions about what they notice. The journey continues through KS2, where pupils extend their scientific views, through exploring, testing and developing ideas about functions, relationships and interactions. Our progressive curriculum supports pupils in practising systematic thinking and predicting how the world may operate, with the overall aim of equipping all children with an ever-growing curiosity in the biology, chemistry and physics of the world around them.
