Dear Parents and Carers
Eid celebrations
Next week sees the end of Ramadan and we know that lots of our famillies will be looking forward to celebrating Eid.
Children who are celebrating Eid can have a 1 day absence on either 12th or 13th May. You must tell us as soon as possible so the Attendance Team can authorise the absence.
School Attendance
Attendance
It is vitally important that children attend school every day and arrive on time. Unfortunately, a number of children arrive late each day, which means they miss important learning time. Any children who arrive after 9.30am will be given an unauthorised absence mark for the morning session in line with Sandwell's procedures.
Sickness
If your child is not well enough to attend school, please phone as early as possible so that we know the reason for their absence. If children have a stomach bug, they must not return to school for 48 hours after the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea.
End of day collection
Children should be collected on time at the end of the school day. However, we know that emergencies can arise. If you are running late, please ring the school office as soon as possible so we can pass the message to the class teacher.
Children can only be collected from school by authorised adults. Please inform school if someone different is collecting your child.
Reminders
All parents and carers are required to wear a face covering on the school site (both outside and inside). If you have a specific exemption, please email headteacher@uplandsmanor.sandwell.sch.uk with a brief explanation.
The Government guidance has not yet changed and it is a key part of our school procedures to help keep each other safe in and around school. Please continue to support us in keeping our community safe.
One-way system
Please remember to follow the one way system in and out of the school playground. We understand that it might be a bit inconvent but it is designed to keep everyone following social distancing guidelines.
Cold weather clothing
Please remember to send your child into school with a cardigan or jumper and a coat. Please make sure they have your child's full name and class written inside so they don't get lost.

School Gateway App - the best way to receive communication from Uplands Manor
We send all communication to parents through the School Gateway App. If you have a smart phone, you will need to download the app and set it to receive push notifications.
This will mean that you receive all the important messages and communication from school.

Is your child entitled to Free School Meals?
If you receive any of the following financial support, your child may be entitled to free school meals. Click on the link below for more details and to complete the application form

- Universal Credit - with a household net income of less than £7,400 a year
- Job Seekers Allowance - Income based only
- Employment and Support Allowance - Income Related only
- Pension Credit - Guaranteed Element (including Child Tax Credit)

- Child Tax Credit only - with an annual income of less than £16,190 (not including Working Tax Credit)

2 year old Nursery places at Tiny Steps Nursery
Tiny Steps Nursery have places available for children who are 2 years old. For more information, please contact the school office who will transfer your call.
3 and 4 Year Old Nursery places at Uplands Nursery for September 2021
We have places available for children who will be aged 3 years old by 31st August 2021. For more information and an application form, please contact the school office on 0121 558 1602.
CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT
We believe that it is important to celebrate achievements. Each week, children may be given a gold letter from a member of staff or a certificate from Mr Dickinson, Miss Copestake or Miss James.
If your child has done something special outside school - maybe they have helped someone or done something special. Tell us so that the Uplands community can share in their celebration. Email headteacher@uplandsmanor.sandwell.sch.uk
Headteacher & Deputy Headteacher Awards
Some children are sent to the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher for a special award. Congratulations to:
- Jack P for amazing reading
- Armaan B for marvellous maths (Using a number track to solve addition problems)
- Harrum S for always trying hard and doing some excellent writing.
- Finley H for his enthusiasm in PE lessons , impressing me with his throwing and catching skills and fast running
- Sara A for a brilliantly written newspaper report
- Richlord B for his fabulous swimming session. He listened really carefully & followed the instructions
- Aminah N for working hard to write an exciting narrative
- Malachi Ka for excellent reasoning in Maths
- Isaac D for his fantastic fraction work. He is working really hard on improving his understanding of fractions and persevering through more difficult work
