Newsletter 27th February 2026
Celebrate your children's achievements with our school community
It is lovely to be able to share with you what the children do in school. We hope, over the next few months, to share more about the children's learning, experiences, visits, etc.
If you would like to share any achievements your child has out of school, please feel free to send information and photos to headteacher@uplandsmanor.sandwell.sch.uk
Please remember that the newsletter is an online part of our school website so your photos would be in the public domain. You are welcome to send just information with your child's name (we will only publish first name)
Parent Governor election
We are pleased to inform you that Mrs Sarah Hartill has been appointed as the Parent Governor. The school governors look forward to working with Sarah in supporting the children, staff and community at Uplands Manor.
Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day was on Tuesday 10th February. Children have begun to explore Artificial Intelligence(AI) and how it support them in their everyday lives.
They have also discussed how AI can be used positively, as well as the importance of using it safely and responsibly.
For more information about how you can support your child to stay safe online, please scan the QR code which links to saferinternet.org.uk
Year 1 visit to Bearwood Allotments
Year One had a fantastic time visiting the allotments. The children learnt lots about sowing seeds, potting and how to make compost. The trip was made even more special as it is exactly one hundred years since the allotments opened in 1926! Big thank you to Paul who made the learning fun!
Inspire workshops
Our Inspire Workshops have been taking place over the past few weeks and have been really well attended by you. Thank you so much for all your support.
This week, Year 4 Inspire Workshops focused on times tables. It was lovely to see parents, staff and children working together. Thank you to everyone who attended.
Year 5 and 6 are still to have their workshops - don't forget to check the diary for the dates.

Clubs - do your children attend a club after school?
Children at Uplands have an amazing range of experiences, such as clubs, visits out of school, visitors coming into school, swimming, awards, workshops and bedtime stories to name just a few.
Approximately half of the children in Year 1 to Year 6 attend a club in school at the end of the day. We will shortly be sending out a survey to those families whose children don't attend a club to see what the reasons are.
Please look out for the survey and help us to understand the barriers or reasons why your child doesn't attend a club at school.
Easter holiday HAF vouchers
The Holiday and Food (HAF) vouchers for families eligible for free school meals.
Please note that they will be emailed to you directly from Sandwell MBC, not school.
How do we contact you in an emergency?
Do we have the correct phone numbers for you?
Have you changed your phone number recently? It is really important that we have the correct number to be able to contact you in an emergency. If you are not sure, please contact the school office as soon as possible.
SCHOOL GATEWAY APP
Thank you to the families who have recently updated and logged into the School Gateway app. Don't forget to keep signed in and have push notifications on so you receive messages.
However, there are still only half of Uplands Manor parents and carers are using the app. This means that over half of you are missing important information and communication from school.
Without using the app, your child could miss out on events, visits and you will miss important information and updates.
It takes less than 5 minutes to download the app and sign up. Our Receptionists can help if you can't do it.
Do it today!
