Dear Parents and Carers

Half term holiday and training day

A reminder that school will be closed for the half term holiday and training day from Monday 31st May to Monday 7th June.  Children all return to school on Tuesday 8th June.

NEWS AND EVENTS

Parent Governor

The Governors would like to thank Ms Charon Bilkhoo, our outgoing Parent Governor, for her commitment and dedication in her role as Curriculum & Standards Governor during the last four years.  We wish her well in the future.

We would like to congratulate Mr Carl Brown, who has been appointed as the new Parent Governor at Uplands Manor.  Mr Brown previously served as a Governor at Uplands so is able to bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the current Governing Body.  We look forward to working with him for the next four years.

Extra-curricular clubs

If you replied to the letter offering clubs after school, you should have received a message on the School Gateway app to let you know which club your child has been offered.  Clubs finish at 4.15pm promptly.  Please make sure that you arrive on time to collect your child.  The message will tell you where to collect them from.

CELEBRATING ACHIEVEMENT

Headteacher & Deputy Headteacher Awards

We believe that it is important to celebrate achievements.  Each week, children may be given a gold letter from a member of staff or a certificate from Mr Dickinson, Miss Copestake or Miss James.

If your child has done something special outside school - maybe they have helped someone or done something special.  Tell us so that the Uplands community can share in their celebration. Email headteacher@uplandsmanor.sandwell.sch.uk

Some children are sent to the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher for a special award.  Congratulations to:

  • Keilan D for super maths skills
  • Amy P for sharing her thoughts and ideas which helps her check her own understanding
  • Priyana U for sharing her thoughts and ideas which helps her check her own understanding
  • Priyanka P for fantastic progress in swimming
  • Esiaka S for super joining in when singing number songs
  • Jacob W for great listening and contributions during class discussions

  • Fatima Z for good sitting and listening during class discussions

Congratulations to Pavnoor

We hope you will join us in saying a huge congratulations to Pavnoor for raising an amazing £1,500 for Bowel Cancer UK.  Pavnoor had 34cm of her hair cut to raise the money in memory of her aunty.  Well done Pavnoor, your hair looks lovely.

REMINDERS

School Gateway App - the way to receive communication from Uplands Manor

We send all communication to parents through the School Gateway App.  If you have a smart phone, you will need to download the app and set it to receive push notifications. You can also login to https://login.schoolgateway.com/0/auth/login on a computer/tablet/ipad

This will mean that you receive all the important messages and communication from school.

If you need to set up a new account, download the school gateway app on your phone or use the following link online https://bit.ly/3eL2mz1

You can also reset forgotten passwords from this link if you click on 'existing user'.

If you need any help, speak to the school office.

Attendance

It is vitally important that children attend school every day and arrive on time.  Unfortunately, a number of children arrive late each day, which means they miss important learning time.  Any children who arrive after 9.30am will be given an unauthorised absence mark for the morning session in line with Sandwell's procedures.

Sickness

If your child is not well enough to attend school, please phone as early as possible so that we know the reason for their absence.  If children have a stomach bug, they must not return to school for 48 hours after the last episode of sickness or diarrhoea.

End of day collection

Children should be collected on time at the end of the school day.  However, we know that emergencies can arise.  If you are running late, please ring the school office as soon as possible so we can pass the message to the class teacher.

Children can only be collected from school by authorised adults.  Please inform school if someone different is collecting your child.
