Dear Parents and Carers

   

   

Each week, there will be year group news.  We hope you will enjoy reading about what your child's year group has been doing, who has received an awards and a few reminders. 

Don't forget to check the newsletter and website calendar for important dates - you don't want to miss anything!

We hope that you all have a happy and safe half term break and look forward to seeing everyone on Monday 28th February.

February

We believe that it is important to celebrate achievements.  As part of our 'Good to be Green' behaviour and reward system, each week, children may be given a certificate, a gold letter from a member of staff or a certificate from Mr Dickinson, Miss Copestake or Miss James.

   

Each week, children are chosen by teachers to receive awards to celebrate their achievements.  

This week, awards have been given to:

  • Kane O for creating a fantastic persuasive leaflet
  • Ayaan A for creating a fantastic persuasive leaflet

   

It's Great to be Gold!

Pupils who show exceptional behaviour for the majority of the week can be chosen to receive a gold letter.  Gold letters have been given to:

  • Gurleen K for her effort in lessons
  • Jayden E for being kind and helpful. He is always offering to help his peers in class when he finishes his own work
  • Meya A for being a fantastic role model for our school

    

Headteacher & Deputy Headteacher Awards

Congratulations to  the children who have received a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher award this week.  They are:

  • Trevor I for huge efforts in writing - keep up the good work!
  • Mason T for creating an amazing fully functional Viking longship for his home learning project
  • Alexis M for planning, designing and making a fantastic treasure box in DT - great work!
  • Ahrenay H for amazing effort with your reading
  • Elissa K for amazing effort with your reading
  • Dunia A for amazing effort with your reading
  • Isiah K for amazing recall of facts about Florence Nightingale this week
  • Denis S for amazing kindness to others and excellent manners

6T Great Uplands Bake Off!

During DT, 6T had their go at the Great British Bread Bake Off and the top three winners of the challenge were Olivia, Zaki and I'Ziah. They made some very unique and delicious designs.

Sandwell Shine a Light Festival

The Shine a Light Festival is a full programme of events and activities. These events and activities will take place over six weekends – one in each of Sandwell’s six towns – ending with a 14-day Shine a Light Festival at Sandwell Valley from 25 July to 8 August.

Impact of Lockdown on Children & Families - Parent Questionnaire

The Children’s Services and Education Scrutiny Board at Sandwell Council is undertaking a review into the impact of the lockdown on children and families and in particular the impact upon education and child attainment. We want to understand the experience of parents and how they feel their children's education has been impacted both positively and negatively throughout the Covid-19 Pandemic.

West Midlands Inclusive Choir - An invitation from Midlands Arts Centre

On Saturday 19th February Birmingham MAC are hosting a free ‘Come and Try’ event for our Inclusive Choir and we would like to invite you to join us! This choir for anybody aged 25 and under. You don’t need any musical experience and you can join in by singing, Makaton signing, dancing or playing a soundmaker.

 

This is a great opportunity to find out more about the choir and see if you like it. You will have the chance to meet current members and the Choir Leaders, and of course sing some songs, play your soundmakers, or share your voice in whichever way suits you.
