We hope you all have a happy and safe half term holiday and look forward to seeing the children back on Tuesday 7th June.

If your child attends Breakfast or After School Club run by 4Community Trust, please remember that they are moving to the Addenbrooke Road entrance of school after half term.

You will need to go through the main Addenbrooke Road school gate and ring the doorbell on the green gate on your left (where some of the Year 2 classes go in).

Make sure you check it regularly as new dates will be added throughout the year

Please make a note in your diary of the club dates.  The start and end dates are the same for all of the clubs.

Year 2 clubs, guitar, football, singing, Y5 challenge and Year 4-6 cricket clubs will run from

Tuesday 7th June - Friday 8th July

Secondary Schools are starting to send us the dates for Year 6 transition days.  These are what we have received so far.  If you know of any others, please let us know so we can share them with other parents.

Registration is now open for parents of current Year 5 pupils who would like their child to sit the entrance test for The Grammar Schools in Birmingham, for entry to Year 7 in September 2023.

Registration can be made online by visiting the website below. We would appreciate if this could be communicated to your current Year 5 parents in any upcoming newsletter.

The closing date for registering is 4pm on 30^th June 2022.  

The test will take place on 17^th September 2022.

C E L E B R A T I O N

We believe that it is important to celebrate achievements.  As part of our 'Good to be Green' behaviour and reward system, each week, children may be given a certificate, a gold letter from a member of staff or a certificate from Mr Dickinson, Miss Copestake or Miss James.

It's Great to be Gold!

Pupils who show exceptional behaviour for the majority of the week can be chosen to receive a gold letter.  Gold letters have been given to:

Headteacher & Deputy Headteacher Awards

Congratulations to  the children who have received a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher award this week.  They are:

6S have been making soft toys in DT and I was absolutely amazed with how they all turned out. There were 3 children who’s sewing skills really stood out so can I nominate them for a headteachers award? They are Ronni, Khushi and Hammad.

Musician of the half term goes to Mariana of 6T for or her dedication and enthusiasm in Year 6 Guitar Club.

On Wednesday morning, four of our Year 6 children took part in the national Maths Quiz Club online heats competition. Our Year 6 pupils did incredibly well and have made it through to the online semi-finals round on 14^th June! Well done and congratulations to all involved! 

ATTENDANCE

Please remember that children should not be taken our of school for a leave of absence during term time.  Please speak to school before booking any dates/flights, etc.

YEAR GROUP NEWS   

Reception children need to bring their PE kits on the first day back after the half term holiday.  They will be left in school until the end of the term, when they will be returned to you.

As part of the Getting It Right project, the Challenging Behaviour Foundation are facilitating a Stakeholder Engagement Event on 15^th June. The aim of this is to share our project findings, allow family carers, professionals and third sector organisations to share their views on existing support and services in the Black Country, discuss ideas and hopes for the future, and develop actions to improve local support.

In the build up to and during the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, Sandwell Council is running an engaging and inclusive programme of cultural events across the Borough.

Shine a Light Festivals will take place across each of Sandwell’s six towns and aim to showcase Sandwell’s rich, diverse culture and showcase the best of arts, sport and culture from all ages, background and parts of the community.

We will be holding a celebration event across the weekend days at Lightwoods Park, 10am-4pm, and an evening extravaganza at Victoria Park, 4pm-9pm.

There are several ways to do this, such as performing on one of our stages or performance areas at our evening event or displaying artwork during the day. We would welcome input from already established groups such as drama clubs or choirs, or even individual students.
