It is disappointing to report that we have recently had a few parents who have driven onto the staff car park off Thompson Road at the end of the school day, when collecting their children, who have no valid reason to do so.

At the beginning and end of the school day (until at least 3.30pm), the only parents who are permitted to drive onto the car park are those with children who attend The Lodge or those who have been given specific permission (please make sure  you check that the office have your registration numbers).

We are sure you understand our need to keep children and adults safe at the beginning and end of the day.  Please do not follow taxis or other cars entering the school site even if the gates are open.

Parking on the streets around school

Unfortunately, we are again having to remind families to park responsibly and legally on the streets around school. Please do not block driveways, park on pavements, on the white H bars or on the yellow zig zag lines.  Also, you must not stop on the double yellow lines on either the corner of Thompson Road or Addenbrooke Road to drop off or pick up children.

Registration plates of cars who commit a road traffic offence are taken and given to the police.

Thank you to the majority of parents who are considerate.

A few reminders

If you have had a new phone number, please tell the school office so we can update our records.

If there is a change in your child's medical conditions, please tell us.

Please make sure that all the people who you give permission to collect your child from school are listed as emergency contacts on our records.

Please keep our records up to date by telling us when things change.

WORLD BOOK DAY

As usual, World Book Day was a great success.  We hope you enjoy looking at the amazing outfits - can you work out what their favourite books are by looking at the pictures?

If your child has grown out of costumes for World Book Day, Comic Relief, Children in Need, Vikings, Egyptians, etc, and you are happy to donate them, please bring them to Reception so other children can benefit.

Thank you to staff and families for wearing red and helping us to raise £388.85 for Midlands Air Ambulance.

   IMPORTANT INFORMATION & REMINDERS

Absences from school

For every absence school requires a reason. If no reason is given, then the absence will be classed as unauthorised . When 5 unauthorised days occur or 10 sessions, this could lead to a penalty notice (fine) of £80 per parent per child.

Parents can log all absences via email to headteacher@uplandsmanor.sandwell.sch.uk or text and/or leave a voicemail on the school phone system.

If one of your children is unwell, it is important to continue to bring your other children into school , or make alternative arrangements to get them into school.

Children attending clubs who have an appointment

If your child has an appointment booked on a day they would normally attend a club, please collect them at their normal end of school day time. Children cannot be collected early from clubs. Thank you for your understanding.

If you do not tell us in advance, the meal will be cancelled and you will need to bring a packed lunch from home or your child will only be offered a sandwich in school.

Children who are not collected from school by 3.30pm will be sent to the 4Community Trust after school club until you pick them up.

The wraparound care is run by 4Community Trust, who are separate to school.  You will have to pay the club manager in cash or by card at the time you collect your child. Their charges are as follows:

  • £6 for collection before 4pm
