Newsletter 14th January 2022
Dear Parents and Carers
Covid update - changes to the self-isolation period for those who test positive for COVID-19
The Government advice has changed again.
From Monday 17 January, people who are self-isolating with COVID-19 will have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative with a lateral flow device (LFD) test on both day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a temperature.
For example, if they test negative on the morning of day 5 and the morning of day 6, they can return to their education or childcare setting immediately on day 6.
The first test must be taken no earlier than day 5 of the self-isolation period, and the second must be taken the following day. All test results should be reported to NHS Test and Trace.
If the result of either of their tests is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.
Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation.

Raheem's act of kindness
During the Christmas holiday, Raheem helped a elderly lady in a real time of need by using his own pocket money to buy her some shopping after she had fallen and couldn't get out of her house.
Well done Raheem, we are all really proud of you!

Unfortunately, due to staffing issues, our catering provider is implementing a new simplified menu from Monday 17th January.
We are sorry that this is short notice but all meals will need to be re-booked using the temporary menu.
If your child has a special medical diet this will not be affected.
Please see the new menu and a letter below, explaining the reason for the changes from our catering provider.

Reading Rewards - book vending machine
Firstly, a huge well done to all the children that received a vending machine token last term. It was wonderful to see so many children completing the reading challenges, being rewarded for brilliant things and spending their tokens on a book of their choice.
Unfortunately, due to technical issues we are unable to use our book vending machine at the moment. We are working very hard to resolve the issue. In the meantime, we will continue to reward the children with tokens for them to spend on a book of their choice once the vending machine is fixed. Thank you for your continued support with this.
Watch out for this term's reading challenges in next week's newsletter.
School Jam - Maths App for EYFS and Key Stage 1
This week we are launching an exciting new app that the children can access at home to support them with their maths learning in school.
Once you have followed the instructions on the letter your child has brought home, you will receive a weekly message that will include a video or a game for the children to watch/play. These are also useful for parents, as you will be able to see the representations and methods that we are currently using in school to support your child/children's maths learning.
Maths Flex - Maths app for Key Stage 2
This week we are launching an exciting new app that the children in Key Stage Two can use to support their learning in school.
Maths Flex uses artificial intelligence to identify any areas that children need extra practice on and will automatically select their activities. Your child's teacher will just select the area of maths that they are currently working on in school.
A letter was sent out to explain how to use and set up Maths Flex. The activities will use the same representations and language that we are currently using in school to teach maths.
Snow days - how to find out if we are closed
If we have to close school due to severe weather or any other reason, we will let you know as quickly as possible by sending a message on the School Gateway app and on social media.
