Newsletter 28th March 2025

We have children and adults in school with nut allergies.  Therefore, we do not allow nuts or nut products in school, including peanut butter or Nutella).

Please think carefully about your behaviour and language.  Swearing is not acceptable behaviour around the children and other adults on and around the school community.

Please remember that the children model adults' behaviour and hear everything.

If you are heard swearing, you will be spoken to and may be asked to leave the school site.

SCHOOL NEWS

Spotlight on 4Community Trust Breakfast & After School Club

We want to celebrate with you the great work of the Breakfast and After School Clubs.  Children are cared for by the wonderful staff from 4Community Trust, who offer a safe, family environment with tasty food and fun activities.

When you walk down the corridor after school, you are met with the amazing smells of the cooking for the children's tea in the After School Club.  You can hear that the children are having a great time.

Some of their recent activities have included celebrating International Polar Bear day (who knew that existed!), making and playing their own maths game, learning about staying safe on the internet, celebrating Red Nose Day and much more.

Junior PCSOs

Last week, our Junior PCSOs learned the phonetic alphabet.  They learned to say and write their name as the police would.  Can you say yours?

   IMPORTANT INFORMATION & REMINDERS

We have received a number of complaints about parents parking across driveways on Addenbrooke Road, Thompson Road, Davison Road and Old Chapel Road when dropping off or collecting children from school.  Please park sensibly and legally and consider our neighbours.

School Meals

Please note that ABM are not currently able to offer Halal food.  Please continue to choose the vegetarian option until Halal becomes available.

Please make sure that you are booking your child's meal choices on the Kanpla app and that you receive notifications.  If your child brings a packed lunch to school, please make sure you have chosen this option on the Kanpla app.

The current Summer menu will continue till the May half term holiday.  It will then change from Monday 2nd June.

School Gateway App

Please check that you have the up to date version of the School Gateway app by checking the App Store or Play Store and search for the app.

Children who are brought late into school

If you know that you will be late into school, please ring us so that we keep your child's meal booked.

If you do not tell us in advance, the meal will be cancelled and you will need to bring a packed lunch from home or your child will only be offered a sandwich in school.

Late collection after school

Children who are not collected from school by 3.30pm will be sent to the 4Community Trust after school club until you pick them up.

The wraparound care is run by 4Community Trust, who are separate to school.  You will have to pay the club manager in cash or by card at the time you collect your child. Their charges are £6 for collection before 4pm and £12 for collection between 4-6pm.  The club closes at 6pm so the charge after 6pm is £1 per minute.

It is your responsibility to collect children on time so they don't need to be sent to the club and you don't need to pay charges.

Clubs

Children attending clubs must be collected promptly at 4.30pm.  If you are late, your child will be taken to the 4Community Trust After School Club and you will be charged.

The deadline for Summer Club closed last Friday.  If your child has been offered a place, you will receive a message on the School Gateway app by Friday 11th April.

It is, therefore, important that you have the School Gateway App on your phone and notifications on to receive messages from school.

Please do not send children to a club unless you have received a message offering them a place.

School Trips

If your child will be going on an educational visit (trip), you must complete the paperwork in full.  If you need any help, please speak to a member of staff.

Lost property & free school uniform, coats and shoes

Please put your child's full name in their school uniform, coats, lunch bags, school bags, shoes, hats - every item that they wear or bring to school.

School is not responsible for finding lost items.  If your child's name is in an item they lose, we will do our best to find it.

After a month, the unnamed items will be put on the rails in Reception and made available for any other family to take.

If you need any uniform, PE kit or shoes, please come into Reception and check what is on the rack.  Everyone is welcome to take what they need - you don't need to ask!

Thank you to everyone who has donated uniform, coats and shoes.

We would be very grateful for donations of shoes, PE pumps, PE kits, school uniform and coats.
