Autumn Census Day - Thursday 7th October

Next Thursday is the Autumn School Census. The money the school receives from the government to pay for the schools meals is based on an average of the number of meals taken on the census days in October and January. It would really help us if your child was to have a school meal on this day.

The information in the School Census generates extra money for school through Pupil Premium and therefore allows school to provide more support and opportunities to our children.

Below is our special Census Day menu.  You can book and pay for your child's meal on the School Gateway App.

Please note info required on the School Gateway app.

If you wish to book fish fingers for your child then please select the roasted pepper pizza option. Jacket potatoes will not be served, please see the poster below for the menu options.

Open Days Events at Uplands Manor

Was your child born between 1st September 2017 and 31st August 2018?

You can apply for a Reception place to start in September 2022 by visiting the Sandwell Admissions website:

http://www.sandwell.gov.uk/schooladmissions

We would like to meet you and show you around our school so you can see all the wonderful teaching and learning that take place at Uplands Manor, have a tour around the school and meet some of the dedicated staff team.

You are invited to our open days:

Please pass the dates to any family members or friends with children in this age range.

We can't wait to meet you!

Class Assemblies

We look forward to welcoming you to our class assemblies.  The dates below are when your child's class assembly will take place.  As soon as you have seen your child into school, please make your way to the door and wait for a member of staff.  You will be taken into the upstairs hall through the door in the top right hand side of the main playground at 9am.

The assemblies will be a chance for the classes to show you what they have been learning about.  We do hope you can attend.

If we have to change any dates, we will try and give you as much notice as possible.

ATTENDANCE

The national target for attendance in school is 96%.

It is really important that children are in school on time every day.

For the week ending 1st October, the whole school attendance was 93.4%.  The highest attending classes were:

  • RM
  • 1C
  • 2F
  • 3M
  • 4KS
  • 5E
  • 6M

Well done to all these classes for their great attendance. Could your class be the highest in the year group next week?

Below is a table showing the effect that absence has on your child's learning.

Sunday 26th September was European Day of Languages, which was invented to encourage people to explore languages other than their own.

At Uplands Manor, we love to celebrate the incredible talents of our children, including the many languages that we speak. Each half term we focus on a different language spoken by children at our school.

This week's assembly was all about Tamil, which is an official language in India, Sri Lanka and Singapore, and is spoken by 75 million people around the world.

Is your child entitled to Free School Meals?

In order to check which children are entitled to Free School Meals, we need your help.  Please read https://bit.ly/3F4f2NQ to check if your child is eligible.  If they are, please click https://bit.ly/3F7eMh6 and complete the form on the Sandwell Council website.

If you need any help, please speak to a member of the school office on 0121 558 1602.

If your child has just moved up into year 3 then they are no longer entitled to Universal Free School Meals. You can find out more information on eligibility and how to apply for Free School Meals using this link https://www.sandwell.gov.uk/info/200151/education_benefits/2176/free_school_meals

As we are all aware there are currently some issues with deliveries of goods across the UK, our caterers have assured us that if they do start to have any problems with sourcing any of the ingredients that they use, then a suitable alternative will be arranged according to childrens dietary requirements.

On the day of your child's birthday (or nearest day if it falls at the weekend), they can come into school in their own clothes.

Due to the number of people in school with dietary needs and allergies, please do not send in sweets or cake.
