ATTENDANCE

The national target for attendance in school is 96%.

It is really important that children are in school on time every day.

For the week ending 24th September, the whole school attendance was 93.7.  The highest attending classes were:

  • RM
  • 1G
  • 2B
  • 3M
  • 4KS
  • 5E
  • 6S

Well done to all these classes for their great attendance. Could your class be the highest in the year group next week?

Below is a table showing the effect that absence has on your child's learning.

CELEBRATION

It's Good to be Green but it's Great to be Gold!

Pupils who show exceptional behaviour for the majority of the week can be chosen to receive a gold letter.  Gold letters have been given to:

  • Brandon H for his amazing improvement in his handwriting
  • Faizan A for his amazing effort in all subjects particularly Maths
  • Taliyah S for making great progress in Art
  • Ali N for making great progress in Art
  • Aysha O for fantastic effort in ukulele lessons

We believe that it is important to celebrate achievements.  Each week, children may be given a gold letter from a member of staff or a certificate from Mr Dickinson, Miss Copestake or Miss James.

If your child has done something special outside school - maybe they have helped someone or done something special.  Tell us so that the Uplands community can share in their celebration. Email headteacher@uplandsmanor.sandwell.sch.uk

Congratulations to  the children who have received a Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher award this week.  They are:

  • Ruby P for her terrific use of positional words- in, on, under, next to, behind.

Roald Dahl Day 2021

Last week, we all enjoyed celebrating Roald Dahl Day at Uplands Manor.  We had a virtual assembly which featured facts about this wonderful children’s author, some of his amusing poems, songs and excerpts of his films. The assembly also included a Roald Dahl Quiz for the classes to take part in. Amazingly, the top three classes all scored 100% and there was hardly a millisecond between the speed of their answers!

Congratulations to the winning classes!

  • 1st Class 2B
  • 2nd Class 5D
  • 3rd Class 6S

Miss Copestake

Farewell to Miss Holsey

We are sad to be saying farewell to Miss Holsey today as she is leaving Uplands to start a new job.  We hope you will join us in wishing her all the best in the future.

On the day of your child's birthday (or nearest day if it falls at the weekend), they can come into school in their own clothes.

PE lessons - earrings

Earrings present a hazard to both the wearer and other children taking part in sports activities.  Children are not permitted to wear jewellery, including pierced earrings, during PE lessons.

Teachers are not allowed to take out or replace children’s earrings so please take them out at home on PE days.

Mobile phones

Please do not allow your child to bring their mobile phone into school.  Year 6 will not be able to walk home alone yet so there is no need for them to bring their phone in.

LABEL IT! LABEL IT! LABEL IT! LABEL IT! LABEL IT!

Please label every item of clothing, shoes, PE kits, coats, water bottles, lunch boxes, lunch bags, etc that your child wears or uses in school.

Any lost property that does not have the child's name on, will be regularly taken to the charity.  School does not take responsibility for lost items that do not have your child's name on.
